Pony Gold Plated Tapestry Needles - Size 24-26 Accessory

Decided that I wanted some needles that wouldn't set off my metal allergy as much as standard needles, I really wanted Pony Black but they weren't available here so decided to try the gold plated. They were on first use really good, they glide nicely and no irritation, however the gold plating wears off quickly which in turn means my sensitive skin issues too. It's not a totally bad thing as it's a good indicator of when you need to change needles but when the pack is 24/26 it means you only get two of each size, my current project is on a high count fabric so I'm only using the 26 needles and I'm now to the half way point and have used both of the 26 from this pack (normally I would use two needles on the current project size I am on). So all in all, good needles but if you are using them for a metal allergy I'd advise trying something else (I am still trying to find the holy grail - Pony black work well for the allergy side but aren't as smooth when actually stitching).

I changed to gold plated needles for cross stitching many years ago, originally to see if they are worth the hype. To me they most definitely are! I stitch a few hours every day, and as someone with sensitive skin, they don't irritate like the nickle needles can. The also seem to glide through the fabric more smoothly,which in turn leads to less tangles. I've used many gold plated needles over the years of different brands, but recently started buying these Pony ones from Stitcher, mainly because they were a lot cheaper than the brand I had been using. I've not been disappointed - just as good as the more expensive brands, and actually don't seem to loose the plating as quickly as one of the other brands I've used in the past. I'll definitely be buying again, and if you're looking at trying gold plated needles for cross stitch these are a great introduction
