Is this stitched in 2 strands or 3 strands of cotton. As I got to do it for someone else. Also what are the colour names so if I run out I can get more

The chart will tell you the number of threads to use, it is usually two strands for cross stitch and a single strand for back stitch.
Vervaco have a guarantee, you go to their website and they replace thread shortages when you complete their warranty page.
