What's in a floral embroidery kit

These are surface embroidery kits rather than counted ones. The design is screen printed onto the fabric, so you can see exactly where every stitch goes and there is no chart to follow and no squares to count - which is why printed kits are usually the easier place to begin.

A typical kit contains the printed fabric, stranded cotton, a needle, and instructions with the stitches marked out. Some include a hoop or frame to work in and to display the finished piece, and around a third of the range uses beads alongside the thread to add texture. A few are crewel kits, worked with wool on a heavier fabric for a raised, traditional finish.
