Derwentwater Designs Birthday Violets Card Cross Stitch Kit

Lovely colours

I thought this was a very pretty design and was pleased with it when I had completed it. I did pick out the wrong green for the lettering and only realised when I had already stitched the whole of "Birthday", so I carried on regardless and it looks fine (I did repeat the design with the right green, but have yet to get a card the right size to frame the second version.

Panna Colourful Sweet Pea Embroidery Kit

I wanted to try ribbon embroidery and liked this colourful kit. I haven’t got very far with it yet but everything is included even 2 needles. I stumbled into a problem as the instructions started by saying sew stems in 1 strand of each of the 2 green colours. It then went on to describe stitching the leaves. So I sewed all the stems. Later on in the instructions it says to sew the stems at the bottom in a different selection of colours and number of threads. Of course I have already sewn them according to the first instructions! Bit disappointing at the start of the work to make a mistake. So my advice is read ALL the instructions first! Otherwise it looks clear and although translated from Russian the instructions are in clear English and there are illustrations of each stitch which I hope will help me learn to do ribbon embroidery.

This is OK, a bit fiddly to change the clamp position, and the hoop clamp is rather wobbly and tends to come loose, but otherwise invaluable.

This has been the easiest fabric I have used when it comes to counting as the lines are already printed off. Still working on the project at the moment so not tries to wash the lines off yet

This design would have matched the picture much more closely, but I didn't identify all my colours correctly and thought a pale pink was intermediate. By the time I had realised it was easier to introduce a new pale pink rather than unravel the whole thing, but I was still very pleased with the result. I find bolder colours easier to distinguish as I get older!

I enjoyed this kit and found it relatively simple to follow, but I nearly ran out of thread (my fault as I hadn't read the instructions thoroughly enough and didn't realise I should be using only one strand in places). Pretty design that matched the end result.

Bothy Threads Mognificent Day Cross Stitch Kit

As a cat lover with many similarly disposed friends, I thought this would be a lovely design to attempt. It took me a while because it is complex, but it was easy enough to come up with a card that captured the spirit of the design, even if there were one or two stitches that were where I put them rather than where the pattern did. I was pleased with the end result and my friend to whom I sent it was delighted. I may attempt bits of the design again in other smaller cards, even if I don't have another try at the whole picture.

DMC Tapestry Wool 7016

Lovely colours and quality

Having been so pleased with previous skeins, I now buy all my tapestry wool from Stitcher. The range of shades is amazing, the quality and price excellent. The only improvement I would suggest is that the pages showing the colours could have bigger photos and the shades grouped, e.g. all the blues together from light to dark, to make choosing the right colour for each project easier.

This is the Vervaco secret stitch along kit. Beautiful colour aida and threads with a piece of finishing ribbon and of course the needle. Can't wait to get started in March on the 12 small projects they have planned.

it's a hit and miss if you're using more than one strand but still works. For one strand it's perfect and does the job

DMC 28 Plastic Bobbins

OK bobbins

I must admit I very much prefer the cardboard bobbins and will go back to use them. This was a try since I urgently needed bobbins for a new project. Won't buy again.

I'm not so keen on this thread, that being said this is my preference and everyone's taste in threads are different. The colour is beautiful arrived in pristine condition and very well packaged. Who knows I may change my thoughts on this in time to come.

Anchor Stranded Cotton 276 Thread

Absolutely fine

I always use Anchor threads and now my local shop has closed I was relieved to be able to buy on line.. Service slow as told they had been dispatched but they hadn’t! Had to wait too long for replacement.
